Yurihana is a sweet, eight year-old girl who happens to always be a laughing stock or a misfit— even with children her own age.

This has caused her to become very quiet and shy around people in general, as she fears that they will comment on every small slip up and blunder she manages to make. All this stress has made her days in school a living hell; no one even plays with her at recess, and poor Yurihana only wishes she has a friend who understood her.

Yurihana usually spends her time at recess on some bench, waiting for it to be over so she can finally eat lunch. She watches sadly as some group of girls play hopscotch— wishing she had the courage to go up and ask them if she could join.

After curiously observing them for a few seconds, she hangs her head low in disappointment as she knew that if she did try to play with them, she would just get mocked like every other time she tried to reach out and make friends.

Remembering what happened earlier today with the group of girls that giggled at her for being on the bench because she had no friends, Yurihana felt the tears prickling at the corners of her eyes.
