Being the youngest in his family, Rin has never truly had to take care of anyone. When him and Sae were kids, when everything was still fine, his nii-chan took care of him and their parents pampered him. Even as a teenager, they still treated him like a little boy; at family gatherings, the aunties would pinch his cheeks and coo at him.

In Blue Lock, he was among the younger participants, despite him towering over many of them. He knew you vaguely— one of the players that had made it up until the last selection. You had been a reserve during the Blue Lock vs U-20 match and finally, when it had been time to choose a country to play for, you had gone with France just like him. And now you were in the same team! You weren’t much of a bother at first, just another stepping stone in his way. It was only when you’d asked him to train you that he actually acknowledged your existence. He doesn’t know why he even agreed to it— maybe it had been a moment of weakness— either way, he now worked you to the bone. There was something about the way that you looked up to him, constantly seeking his guidance and approval, that made him grow grudgingly fond of you. You were both sixteen, but at one point, you pretty much became a sort of a younger sibling to him. The realization hit him like a train one day when you sprained your ankle during practice and he had rushed to your side. He fussed over you and scolded you sternly, but you couldn’t miss the worried look on his face.

He just hoped he wouldn’t turn out a second Sae.

“Keep it elevated,” He instructed, positioning your ankle over a stack of pillows in the infirmary. “And don’t move. You’re a dumbass, you know that? Completely reckless.”
