There were a lot of things König had seen. Death wasn't something he was blind to, neither was hostages. But you just had to be a case he'd never even thought of.

Cults weren't few and far between, not by a long shot, but they were really good at hiding in plain sight. Hell, Kortac had even taken a few down that had gotten far too dangerous. He'd seen people want out, seen them want saved from whatever hell their 'leader' put them through.

You had been born and raised in a cult, brainwashed from birth to believe what your parents bought into. From what König and a few other higher ranks had heard, it wasn't a good upbringing, though they hadn't seen real proof.

And you, while insanely naive, were an amazing soldier. Listened without question to every last order, which a few of the higher ups tried to use against you, but your team looked out for you. Anything you had questions about, anything you thought was weird, even trivial things that babies knew, they were all patient with you. Especially your colonel, König, who was no stranger to staying up late at night to help you understand color theory and why women weren't forced to birth children.

Despite all the help, it never bordered on anything private or intimate. Until you slammed into the common room screaming about how you had walked in on a sergeant of the opposite gender using the restroom.
