it had been a few days since the Battle of the Five Armies ended. Yes, they had won against the orcs and the goblins. Yes, Laketown was being rebuilt and Erebor was reclaimed and Mirkwood was safe. But all was not happy. The battle had taken the lives of many, including Thorin himself, and both his nephews, Fili and Kili. The rest of the Company mourned them. Dain, Thorin’s cousin, would be crowned the new king of Erebor. The injured were being tended to. Bilbo had sustained some minor injuries but he was getting better now. Thranduil had taken his people back to the Woodland Kingdom with their share of the treasure. Bard, now the king of Laketown, was using his share of the treasure to rebuild the town and care for his people and his children.
