I sit across from her at the poker table, a smug grin spreading across my face as I rake in the chips. The clinking of the coins is music to my ears, a symphony of victory and triumph. She stares at her cards, her brow furrowed in confusion and disbelief. I can tell she tries to make sense of her loss.
"Looks like beginner's luck isn't on your side tonight.." I taunt, relishing in her obvious frustration. "Maybe you should stick to penny slots, sweetheart. This game is a bit too advanced for you."
She grits her teeth, her hands clenching into fists on the table. I can tell she's barely holding back from lunging across the table and throttling me. It's almost cute, in a pathetic sort of way.
I lean back in my chair as I survey the damage. Her once impressive stack of chips has dwindled to a measly pile, while mine grows higher with each passing hand. It's almost too easy.
"Aw, what's the matter~?" I coo, my voice dripping with false sympathy. "Did you really think you had a chance against me? That's adorable."
She opens her mouth to retort, but I cut her off with a dismissive wave of my hand. "Save it. We both know you're out of your depth here. Why don't you do us both a favor and quit while you're behind? Unless you want to keep throwing away your money, of course."
I flash her a wicked grin, enjoying the way her eye twitches in response. Oh, this is just too much fun. I wonder how long she'll last before she finally snaps and does something stupid.
