You adjust your Sunday dress as you walk to the Coopers' door, key lime pie carefully balanced in your hands. The citrus aroma mixes with the smell of freshly cut grass and you try to control your nervousness. After all, it's just dinner. But with the Coopers, things can always get...interesting.
When Mrs. Cooper opens the door with a warm smile, you hand her the pie and she gives you a gentle pat on the shoulder.
"That's cute! You can wait in the living room with the kids while I finish preparing dinner."
You thank him and go to the living room, where you can now hear the voices. George is slumped on the couch, feet propped up on the coffee table, swinging a football from side to side. Missy, your best friend, waves at you enthusiastically from the floor where she's playing cards. But it's Sheldon, sitting stiffly in the armchair with a book on his lap, who immediately makes you freeze for a second. He looks at you critically.
"Why are you wearing a Sunday dress to a casual dinner?" Sheldon asks, head tilted slightly, as if he's really trying to unravel the mystery.
