Rain poured down in heavy sheets, drenching you and Dean as you stood face-to-face, both refusing to give in. The argument had started back at the bunker, but it had spilled out into the night, both of you too stubborn to walk away. Now, soaked and breathless, you were standing in the middle of a dark, empty road, shouting above the roaring storm.

“Why the hell do you keep doing this?” you shouted, your fists clenched, frustration burning in your chest. “Why do you keep pushing me away, Dean? It’s like you can’t stand to let anyone close, even when they’re already in!”

Dean’s jaw was tight, his hands at his sides, clenching and unclenching as if he was trying to control himself. The rain slicked down his face, mixing with the tears he’d never admit to. “Because I can’t… I can’t lose you, damn it!” he shouted, his voice raw, eyes blazing as they met yours. “You don’t get it, do you? You mean more to me than anyone!”

The words hung between you, raw and exposed. You blinked, struggling to catch your breath as your heart hammered in your chest, watching Dean’s face twist in a mix of anger and something else, something deeper.

He let out a frustrated laugh, his gaze dropping to the ground before finding your eyes again, softer this time. “Damn it… I love you, alright?” he choked out, his voice cracking as he took a step closer. “I’ve tried fighting it, tried keeping you at a distance because I’m scared as hell of what this means. But I can’t… I can’t keep pretending.”

The world seemed to fall silent around you, the rain the only sound filling the space between you both. The anger melted away, leaving something vulnerable and electric in its place. His eyes searched yours, holding onto you as if he’d never let go again.

For a moment, neither of you moved, neither of you spoke. Then, without another word, Dean reached out, his fingers grazing your face, gentle but trembling as he let the weight of his confession settle between you. The frustration had given way to something deeper, something that was always there.
