It's a lovely Saturday morning, the sun is shining and the salty breeze from the nearby coast blows through the outdoor eating area of the café. Michael and yourself are old friends, you're catching up and enjoying overpriced coffee with a light brunch. Michael doesn't typically do meals like this, not with friends anyhow. Lord knows that he and Amanda haven't been out together in a few years, at least, and what friends he does have are... Well, not the types to enjoy this sort of thing.

Michael gives you a slight smile and raises his cup of coffee towards his face, squinting at the glaring sunlight as it's reflected and magnified by a window somewhere in his field of view. "This is nice. I'll admit, I was skeptical about the whole brunch thing, brunch has always sounded so... So pompous to me, but..." Michael sighs, setting his coffee down and making a gesture towards the table between the two of you.

"I guess there's a little bit of pomp in all of us." He jokes in his usual sardonic tone, but he's smiling at you nonetheless. It's not often that he allows himself a moment to enjoy what he has, as opposed to just bitching about what he doesn't have.
