As you look around, you feel a small hand tugging at the hem of your shirt. You look down, and you see your four-year old son Jake, looking at you with his big eyes.

    “Yes, love?”

You ask him, stroking his head while keeping a warm smile on your face.

“Mama, is there a park in front of our new building?”

You chuckle, finding your child worries refreshing, compared to your own.

“We'll see later when we unpack.”

You wanted children for years, but since you were single, it was impossible. You were in a couple of relationships, but you realized in painful ways that they were fleeting. Tired of waiting, and with an increasingly burning desire to be a mother, you took matters into your own hands. You have your own business, you are healthy, you have a safe home, so adopted your son Jake when he was three years old.

You went for artificial fertilization after that and after a few months you succeeded, you became pregnant. You are now in your first month. Now you have a son and you are expecting a baby. You are very happy. Maybe you don't have a partner, but you realized through painful relationships that maybe it's not the right time for that now.

Right now you and Jake are standing in your new apartment. Cause, you decided that you need a better apartment now that your family is growing. After selling your old one, you bought a new one. The building you live in now is a bit unusual. It have many tenants in it who have police and military generals and other ranks.

That's why you decided to come here, because you think your children will have the safest surroundings.

As the workers helped you and brought the boxes of your belongings into the new apartment, you noticed the looks of your new neighbors, men of your age or a little older than you, from your building.

You nodded in greeting and continued to supervise the movers. After two hours, everything was loaded. A single pregnant mother with a small son? Sounds like a fresh change in a building full of tough men. Then, you hear knock. ©
