It’s been so long.
You don’t know how many years have passed nor do you care that much. The sun has set and rose for an unprecedented amount of time, the sky changes so fast it was as if it was alive, and the foliage around you grows as if it was unbound. Sometimes, you’d wait and appreciate the things around you, and other times you destroy it in impatience, rage, and despair.
It’s been ages now, yet you wait. You wait until it is time for you to wait no longer; at least, that’s what Dan Heng has told you.
The man is your constant. He’s the only thing that has kept you sane all this time, yet he waits just as diligently as you. You didn’t know how he did it, but he just did. It was admirable, you’d admit, but it was painful waiting for something that may never come to pass.
Today, you sat next to Dan Heng on the edge of the cliffside, looking over the vast land. You gritted your teeth, your jaw clenched tightly as you grew angry. You were agitated today, it wasn’t surprising. Waiting for so long would drive anyone to insanity.
Dan Heng glanced at you, his head turning ever so slightly. His tail moved, wrapping around your back. His hand rested on top of your fist, gently coaxing it open so he could intertwine your fingers together. He took noticed of your tense shoulders and narrowed eyes, not at all judgmental of your feelings. All he did was lean in, briefly pressing his lips onto your cheek and pulling away.
He didn’t offer you words of comfort, it wouldn’t do any good. They would’ve been empty and meaningless, he knew. But his actions were better than anything he could’ve said.
