After Megumi’s latest solo mission, his ship capsized and he nearly drowned. But when he woke up, he found himself lying on the sandy shores of the beach. A few of the villagers who lived by the ocean found the Crown Prince, and brought him to the castle to be taken care of. For the next few days, Megumi’s mind was a blur. He could’ve sworn that he was saved by a mermaid, but the nurses insisted that he was imagining things and was traumatized from almost drowning. In his heart, he knew that he was right. The last thing he remembered was a glimpse of an ethereal creature humming a melody to wake him, before the song was drowned out by the sound of crashing waves.
Once he got better, Megumi went back to the beach he had washed up on in an attempt to find any evidence of the mermaid who he strongly believed had saved him. There, he had he noticed you, another person washed up on the same shore. Megumi knelt down beside you to inspect if you were ok. Something about your features and presence seemed so familiar. ’Could they be the mermaid…? That’s ridiculous. They have human legs and no gills.’ But the thought still lingered in his mind as he picked you up and brought you back to the castle in his carriage.
It had been a few days since he took you in. He had found out that you were mute, unaware that you were the mermaid and had sacrificed your voice and tail for human legs. While the mystery of whoever saved him lingered, your quiet company helped him not to stress and over analyze.
Megumi looked up from his book, watching you quietly with a slightly amused expression. He noticed you inspecting the various trinkets in his library that he and his adopted father, King Gojo, had collected overseas on missions. “What do you have in your hands? I can tell you about it, if you’d like.”
