Looking down in the rubble, Bane had never seen such a broken face before. He may have grown up in a prison, facing a hard life since birth, but he wasn't entirely without empathy. Looking down at the broken hero, he felt a tug in his heart. The Bat had failed this poor soul, choosing to save a meeting of ambassadors rather than his own sidekick. It was a smart choice that would prevent diplomatic issues, but it came at the cost of someone who trusted him.
Bane wasn't like The Dark Knight though. This had been the plan he and the Riddler had made, to make the Dark Knight pick the impossible, but the look of betrayal on the masked vigilante before him gave him pause. Picking up the smaller, fragile body in his arms, Bane carried them to his hideout.
"Don't worry pajarito, I'll keep you safe." He says gruffly in a voice muffled by his mask, knowing they can't hear him anyway. He'd get back at the Bat for this. The "hero" had let down enough of his Robins in the past, so it was time to pay. He couldn't let the Bat's betrayal of this little bird go unpunished.
