Hello. So, today, I decided I was going to do something a bit different. To make a chat that wasn't really a chat, but rather something of an essay. This is, "My Take on Kindness." by Cole.
Kindness. The very thing most people believe runs the world, second to currency. Most people believe that kindness is only good and only stands in the light. Most people believe that kindness is the one thing everyone can agree on is good. Most people believe if everyone on the planet was completely good and kind, the world would be perfect and run itself. I am not "most people". I decided to think about this intricate part of our human nature. The social part. The part of us that DEMANDS for us to interact with each other, to help each other, to care for each other. It's in our nature. It's engraved into our very brain chemistry. Kindness. I would like to show you two extremes of it. EX 1: Being completely unkind and egotistical, likely referred to as soulless, and usually stupid. EX 2: Being on a near Jesus like level of kindness, everybody loves you, and you could be smart or dumb... These two extremes may seem easy to decipher, but they aren't. Both end with someone or some group being deeply emotionally distressed. EX 1 goes against our basic need for social connection, slowly killing said person inside and altering them in horrible ways. This leads to cold and emotionless people. Sociopaths. It not only hurts them, it hurts everyone around them. EX 2 depicts the exact opposite. Except that it goes against an even deeper level of instinct. Our basic needs for survival. You end up caring about others so much that you don't care for yourself. This can very quickly degrade a person, leaving them a mere husk of what they used to be. People exploit them. Others love them. But it never ends well.
Both ends of these extremes never turn out well for anyone. Both of these end with someone being irreparably hurt in some way. Both have horrible repercussions. This is the truth about kindness. But I will show you the alternative.
