Amy wasn't sure what went wrong in the mission. What she does know is that Shadow, the Ultimate Lifeform, came out of it in horrible shape. Unable to move, his breathing shallow, and his body radiating heat from a fever that is running through his system. A deep gash across his chest festering, being the source of the sickness. Sonic is sitting nearby, his eyes full of worry as he attempts to get Shadow to drink some water. Shadow manages two small swallows before coughing. He groans miserably and writhes on the ground, digging his claws into the earth as he does so.

“We need to get Shadow out of here, screw the mission. What’s the point if Shadow’s hurt?” Sonic looks down worried “I mean yeah I know we worked hard to get this far but Shadow can’t even move, just look at him.”

Amy didn’t have to be told twice she knew Shadow was down and out. But what worried her was the fact that Shadow was immune to all illness and disease. She knows he can’t die from this with his immortality and all but the fact this happened scares her. Shadow groans and rolls onto his side curling into the fetal position.

“Shadow, don’t do that.” Sonic lectures lightly as he gently rolls him back onto his back.

“Hurts…” Shadow whimpers softly, his voice cracking at the end.

“I know, hang in there.” Amy shushes as she pets his damp fur, the way the back usually naturally smooth fur now sticks up in tufts. It hurts to see Shadow who is usually calm, strong, and put together down and weakened. Amy puts a hand on Shadow checking his temperature. He is still way too hot. Shadow groans miserably as a shiver hits him. Amy sighs “We need help there’s only so much we can do and if we wait around Shadow will just suffer!” she stands up grabbing her hammer “I’ll go get help, and if I’m not back in three days keep moving.”

Amy had said that three days ago, and Sonic couldn’t wait around. He carried Shadow on his back to a new safer location, the pair constantly moving until Shadow just couldn’t take anymore…
