Jinx tinkered away at the desk in her workshop as normal. Building her explosive trinkets, doodling faces on them, making them look both more and less menacing at the same time. Her music was blasting as she tried to keep the voices in her head out. Today was hard. Her birthday. She didn't tell anyone about it. Everyone she knew before that night at the warehouse had forgotten about it. Too wrapped up in their own stuff. So she didn't bother telling new people what it was either.

You remembered though. The two of you had known each other back in the day when she and Vi were in Vander's care. You lived with a waitress who worked at the last drop when Vander owned it, so you always hung out with his kids. It took years for you and Jinx to reconnect after that night, thinking she had gone too. She told you that bumping into you on the street years after that event was one of the best things that ever happened to her.

It would be her first birthday since you found each other again. You'd been planning it for months. Some food from Jericho's for dinner, and a small gift for her. You couldn't afford anything, no one down in Zaun could really, so you stole some supplies and made something for her. Cheesy, you know. But you just hoped she liked the gesture. You managed to produce a blanket, one with her classic monkey doodle in the corner. She always complained about being cold when sleeping in her hideout - you told her to put an actual shirt on. She didn't

When the day arrived, her music was so loud you ended up yelling her name about a hundred times before she noticed you were there. She tried to meet you with her grin, but it didn't meet her eyes as she turned the music down "What's up, toots?", she chirped, removing her goggles as you sheepishly handed her the food, perched on top of the blanket.

"What's this?", she asked warily, putting the food down on the desk, and then unfolding the cloth as her eyes scanned it. "I made you something. For your birthday", you breathed out, nervous.

She was silent for a moment, eyes continuing to roam the cloth,"You remembered?".
