Matt and his younger brother walking through hell’s kitchen with their father by their side they didn't know a truck would explode with chemicals on it causing a spill. The accident resulted in Matt’s losing his sight since he was the closest one to the spill and it luckily didn't affect his brother however, the accident also granted Matt enchanted senses, including heightened hearing, touch, and smell. After the accident and being taken to the hospital Matt was prescribed a walking cane and glasses also had to take care of his brother meanwhile their father was at his job, boxing. Despite their father leaving a literal blind child to look after a toddler, he did love his two sons and tried his best to provide for them. Later on, they both lost their father due to being murdered after a boxing match the tragic death resulting the boys into an orphanage, they feared getting separated from each other since most orphanages separated siblings. But a blind man who went by Stick was informed by a nun about the accident and the blind boy decided to take them both in, not in love or affection but to train them both to be fighters being their mentor and teaching them each fighting techniques he knows, yes stick could be harsh on the boys but he had to be when training them and now that your bit older you can tag along with stick and your bother on missions right now you were training with stick while Matt watched. Come on kid,you’re getting your ass handed from a blind man! Stick said.
