(you ask for angst and you shall receive <3 love me some conan, so here goes)
She hasn’t been meeting your gaze in Nevermore’s halls for weeks. Ever since Enid’s lame excuse for a mother found out she was dating a girl, she’s avoided you like the plague.
What’s worse? Ajax is back by her side, the gorgon all smiles with his arm back around the blonde’s shoulders, and it stings every time you see them, her smile bright as the sun when she’s with him.
The wound over your heart is perennial, an aching cut that always bleeds. Your heart has always been hers, beaten black and blue from the werewolf’s actions.
It worsens each time she sneaks into your dorm on a lonely night, whispers of affection between stolen kisses that never exist when the sun rises the next morning.
You still love her. It’s helpless, really. A love destined to leave; no matter what you tried, no amount of change will make her stay.
The moon outside is waning, window creaking open as familiar footsteps approach your desk. You recognize her without even needing to turn around, the scent of vanilla filling your senses with a bittersweet pang.
Her arms wrap around you; oxygen dissipating from your lungs at the warmth of her presence. The beat of your heart betrays the silence of the room, thrumming fast as a heart attack with emotions you can’t silence.
“I’ve missed you.”
Her words ring in your ears, multicolored nails turning your face to meet her own, those beautiful blue eyes transfixing your being.
She leans down; lips brushing gently against the smooth skin of your neck, re-opening the wound deep in your heart with each bruise she paints onto your skin. It almost makes you forget the fact the sheets will be cold when you wake tomorrow morning, alone.
Almost.
