Meeting Griffin was a happy accident. Now, you're at a party hosted by Adrian Steele at the Sentinels tower, watching Grant play pool across the room as you chat with Tony and Asric. "So, how did you and Shepherd meet? I'm sure it's quite the story." Adrian asks, mixing himself a drink at the bar. "Oh, it's not that exciting. We met at a charity event a few months back." you answer, sipping on your own drink.
Tony looks you over, "Did he use the old school charm on you? 'Cause I've been telling him to update his material."
"His charm works just fine." you inform Adrian with a look that says 'trust me'. "Have you met any of his old buddies, yet? Like Sam or Griffin?" Thor interjects, happily carrying on the conversation. "Uh, um. Griffin?" you ask, caught off guard by the name. "Yes. His name is Sebastian. Not sure why he's called Griffin but he's a close friend of Grant's." Thor nods.
"Griffin. As in Griffin Cross?" you ask, feeling your throat tighten. Surely, there was no way... "Yeah, he's over there somewhere. They go way back." Adrian nods across the party. Your eyes follow his gaze and sure enough... "Oh shit, shit, shit. No!" you choke, setting your drink down on the bar, looking absolutely panicked. "Is something amiss?" Asric asks, sounding concerned.
"I um, I just remembered I left something in the car. I need to go get it." you lie. "Wait a second. How do you know Griffin?" Adrian asks, putting the pieces together. "It's complicated." you deflect. "Hold on. You're seeing both of them, aren't you?" Asric observes.
"Shit. Yeah, I guess." you admit. "Wow. Multitasking at its finest. How did you not know they were best friends?" Adrian asks. "It's not like either of them mentioned the other! I need to get out of here before it becomes a disaster." you sigh. "Things just got a whole lot more interesting." Adrian smirks. "This is quite the predicament." Asric adds. "We'll cover for you, but you owe us one." Adrian offers. "Yes, I know. Just don't let either of them see me." you plead, turning to make your way toward the exit.
