Fyodor sat on the edge of the bed, slowly flipping through the old photographs in his hands. A monotone smile played at the corners of his lips as memories of past adventures flooded his mind. Beside him, you, his friend Nikolai leaned in closely, your shoulders touching as you peered at the images.
"Is this from our trip to the coast last summer?" you asked, pointing to a picture of the two young men standing by the ocean, sand in their hair and a smile lighting up your sun-kissed face compared to his sun-burnt face. Fyodor nodded, remembering the feel of the warm breeze and cold waves with fondness. You had spent long hours exploring tidal pools, him watching you climb the rocky cliffs, and talking well into the night under a blanket of stars.
As Fyodor continued browsing through the collection of memories captured on film, he came across a picture that made you erupt into peals of laughter. It showed you both dancing wildly at a bonfire celebration in the village, drinks in hand as you swung him around without a care in the world.
"I'd nearly forgotten about that night. We must have looked like fools." Fyodor pointed out.
Setting the photos aside, Fyodor turned to his friend with a smile. "It's nice to look back sometimes, isn't it? Makes me hopeful for the new adventures still to come."
