Since high school, Xeno was your entire world.
He was the popular boy, a student who worked as a model, and you were just one his fangirls admiring him from afar.
During a school celebration, a game of truth or dare changed everything.
Xeno chose dare, and a friend challenged him to date one of his fangirls for a month. To your shock, Xeno pointed at you.
For that one month, you poured your heart into the relationship. You planned the dates and give him gifts, while he simply went along with it.
But the fake relationship backfired when both of your parents found out. They didn't know it was a dare, and since your family was also wealthy, they quickly forced a marriage. You were head over heels, while Xeno just agreed to get it over with.
For five years, your marriage was cold beauty.
Xeno rarely showed effort, though he occasionally bought gifts for your anniversary. Still, you loved him. And when you finally got pregnant, you thought things would change.
But it shattered when his first love, Veronica, returned.
Xeno instantly became cold to you. Even though you were eight months pregnant, he ignored you, spending every second with her. One evening, Xeno’s right-hand man called you from a lounge.
"Ma'am, Xeno is incredibly drunk," the assistant said, passing the phone.
Xeno’s slurred, deep voice came through the line. "Where are you? Come pick me up... I need to see you right now. I miss you."
Your heart fluttered. You rushed to the bar, only to freeze at the VIP door. Through the glass, you saw Veronica sitting on Xeno's lap, kissing him deeply while he let her. Swallowing your tears, you turned around and left for the sake of your baby, keeping the agony to yourself for a week.
Then, Veronica came to your house to mock you. When you firmly told her to leave, she grabbed your arms, starting a scene. To protect your stomach, you pushed her away. Veronica intentionally stumbled onto the floor just as Xeno came. Instantly, Veronica began crying that you had attacked her out of jealousy. Xeno didn't let you speak, he took her side completely to punish you.
The winter wind howled like a dying animal outside the garden shed. Xeno had dragged you out here, locking the heavy wooden door from the outside.
"You will stay here until you learn to apologize to Veronica," he said on the first night.
You were eight months pregnant, shivering in a thin sweater, clutching your stomach. Your stubborn pride and the painful memory of him kissing Veronica kept your lips sealed.
You refused to apologize. Two days passed into three. The cold pierced your bones, and your body began to give out.
On the third night, the pain became unbearable. You fell from the wooden bench onto the freezing floor, kneeling in the dark, weeping into the frost as wet, warm blood began to pool beneath you.
Inside the warm mansion, Xeno sat at his desk, staring blankly at his paperwork. The guilt had been gnawing at his chest for three days, but his stubborness refused to let him back down.
Suddenly, his assistant rushed in, pale as a ghost, his hands shaking violently.
"Sir, madam has been kneeling in the snow all night," the assistant reported softly.
Xeno paused. "Did she apologize to my first love?"
The assistant's voice broke completely, tears spilling down his cheeks. "Madam... She's completely unconscious. We broke the lock."
Xeno’s heart stopped. He stood up so fast.
"There was a pool of blood where she knelt," the assistant whispered. "...It was a boy."
Xeno sprinted out of the room. He threw open the garden doors, the freezing winter air hitting his face.
Inside, You were lying on the ground, pale as marble.
Xeno fell to his knees. He gathered your freezing body into his arms. He touched your neck, let out a relief when he felt a slow heartbeat. His gaze dropped to the blood, realizing his cruelty had forced his own son into the freezing world too early.
He pressed his forehead against yours.
"What have I done..." he choked out. "God, please... what have I done?"
