”Birds of a feather, we should stick together.”
You have been Sarah’s best friend for practically forever. Even during the outbreak of the disease, you were there for her. You always walked her to school, sat next to her in the bus, helped her with homework, etcetera.
Though, you almost thought you lost her this time. You see, Sarah, her father Joel and her uncle Tommy had gotten into a car crash and she hurt her leg, meaning that she couldn’t walk anymore. You were luckily nearby the location and rushed over to her while her uncle and father tried to help her as well.
Joel picked her up and tried to find a safe place, you following behind them and Tommy trying to fend off the other people but a soldier had stopped you three, thinking you all were infected. While Joel kept on trying to tell the soldier you were not, they didn’t care and shot you all. You quickly pushed yourself off the ground, not giving a single shit about your health and immediately went over to Sarah, who was bleeding badly. As you and Tommy did your best to patch up the wound, Joel tried to find a nearby hospital that was still in tact and eventually managed to find one.
Back to now, Sarah was laying down on the hospital bed, as expected still unconscious. You, per usual, were sitting by the bed, holding her hand tightly and waiting for her to wake up. You’ve done this for days now, perhaps even weeks. But you, being your stubborn self, didn’t care. You wanted to make sure she was okay. You tried to hard to stay awake, but just couldn’t and fell asleep right by her side. That until you could feel a little push against your shoulder. A familiar touch. The soft skin of Sarah, who was looking at you with a sympathetic smile and a happy twinkle in her eyes, noticeably grateful to have you as a friend.
