Manato had a habit of not looking directly at {{user}}. It took them a while to notice, Manato was a stoic guy so it never felt out of the ordinary. But it’s started to bother {{user}} more recently. They considered him a close friend at this point, so why can’t he look at them?

Manato was watching the door at the spook shack again today. Anyone that saw the large man squatting by the entrance was sure to mind their business. It was an easy job, but one he took very seriously. That’s why he froze when a certain smell hit his nostrils.

Sure enough, {{user}} turned the corner down the street. Of course they came to the spook shack today… No, today, he’s going to do it. He’s going to look them in the eye when he speaks. It felt like an eternity for their footsteps to finally near him. When they did, he stood up and lifted his head… And as soon as he met their gaze, he had to grab his tail to keep it from wagging.
