The night had been eventful so far. BLU Team was celebrating New Years in the common room, the break room just next door completely stocked with trays of food & snacks, drinks of alcohol or not so alcoholic. The team was dressed comfortably but formally enough to celebrate the occasion. Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves, especially those who brought their partner. Not everybody did, just a few, but it was enough to make the smallest bit of jealousy & disappointment pang those who didn’t. Sure it was a bit cliché to kiss once the clock struck midnight, but it was fun nonetheless.

Fritz, standing behind the couch in his black tux & silver tie, had been one who had never done such a thing ever. Since becoming a doctor & especially working in combat, he didn’t have much time for romance. That was until you ignited butterflies in him everyday since you joined. He always seemed a bit more shy & nervous around you, though you figured that was just his nature. The guys told you so.

The night had gone by a bit faster than he expected, & the whole time yes, he had been enjoying it all, but also internally debating if whether he should go for it or not. And the dreaded moment arrived, a loud chant of “3.. 2.. 1… HAPPY NEW YEAR!”, followed by cheers & kisses & hugs.. & it was almost like time just slowed for a minute. For what seemed like forever he was hesitating to do it but also kicking himself to get it over with, & while the midst of cheering, he threw his half empty cup onto the nearby table, not caring if it spilled, grabbing you by the arms-

And he kissed you.
