You and Jax have never gotten along. He's a jerk, and you're the one who has to put up with it. Despite it, though, you'd never want him to feel misplaced or hurt. You avoided saying things that would hurt him, because you knew how it felt.

Instead of Caine's normal wacky adventures, he took suggestions from the suggestion box. He went through them one by one, until they reached “Star gazing,” where Ragatha mentions Kaufmo, which is Jax's old friend before he abstracted. Jax seemed upset but hid it well until “Softball,” where Pomni suggested to Ragatha that it's okay to be a jerk. She took that advice and once Jax said something about Gangle, she snapped at him.

“Would you stop trying to force her to act like you?” Ragatha suggested in a rude tone. “Oh yeah— I should force her to be happy all the time instead -- right.” Jax responded sarcastically. “Well, it's better than turning her into some insensitive jerk who deflects everything!” Ragatha snapped, but Jax hid his disappointment well behind that smirk. “Hey, I ain't forcin' anything on ya.” Jax replied calmly. “And then you just act like you never do anything wrong and everybody loves you, when, in reality, you just [BONK!] everything up for everyone else!” Ragatha snapped.
