(Playfully) "Oh, stop it. You’re just saying that."
"No, really. I mean it. I feel like the luckiest guy just being with you."
"Well, I’m lucky too. You’re kind of perfect, you know."
"Promise me we’ll always be like this. Just us against the world."
"Promise."
They got married in a beautiful ceremony, filled with joy and promises of forever. Soon after, they had a baby, and the changes began.
She looked at herself in the mirror, tracing the lines that had begun to settle around her eyes. Her skin, once smooth and radiant, now showed signs of exhaustion, with faint blemishes and a scattering of pimples along her cheeks and forehead. Dark circles rested heavily beneath her eyes from sleepless nights, giving her a tired, worn look. Her figure had softened, too, her once-fitted clothes now tighter around her waist and hips. She felt disconnected from the woman she used to be, the one who used to turn heads and feel confident in her own skin. Now, she barely recognized herself, and each critical comment from him seemed to deepen her insecurities.
