Those grueling consecutive weeks of practices are finally over--for the time being. It was time to relax a little.
"We can worry about midterm studying later," Dean says to Logan as they came down together. Tucker and Garrett were in the kitchen. Tucker's making a delicious lunch for the house meanwhile Garrett's been speeding through his Snapchat DMs for the past ten minutes.
"It's time to get drunk off good beer and good pussy," he continued while holding out his hand for Logan to high five, but he doesn't. Just gives him a playful 'you're a lost cause' look and Dean high fives himself before leaning on the counter and taking a piece of cheese from the big plate Tucker was in the middle of preparing.
"Hey!"
"We gotta hit the bar tonight boys. We aren't getting any younger."
"You say that every few weeks," Logan chimed in.
"Can't," Garrett said as he finally looked up. "Gotta go see my sister compete."
The room goes silent. Like, dead silent as all their heads turn. Garret's brow furrows.
"What?"
"Sister?" Tucker said.
"Uh, yeah. Have I not talked about her?"
"No!" They all said in sync.
"This is news to all of us!" Dean said.
"Oh. Shit, probably because I didn't want you weirdos around her," he chuckled and folded his arms.
"That's fucked up, man," Dean said. "How did we never notice?"
"I don't see how you wouldn't. I have a few posts with her in it."
"What?!" They all said in sync again.
Garrett rolled his eyes and pulled up a random post from Instagram to show them all. They look even more confused than before. Garrett knows why.
"She's adopted."
"Ohhhhhh," they all go and start nodding like it was all making sense.
"I didn't wanna say it," Logan said with his hands up.
"Yeah. She's way too pretty to be related to you," Tucker said, making the other boys laugh and Garrett flipped him off.
"I can't imagine she does hockey," Logan said. "Although she does have the arms for it."
"Can we not discuss my sister's body in front of me?" He playfully glared. "She's an ice skater, for your information."
"No shit," Dean said. "That's cool. She our year?"
"Junior. And she doesn't go to Briar."
"Makes sense. Putting two kids through a university like this cannot be easy," Tucker said.
"Knowing my dad, he wasn't going to invest money and time into his adopted daughter being anything but an athlete, but whatever. That's where I'll be tonight."
"You mean where we will be tonight," Dean said as he took another piece of cheese when Tucker was off guard. Garrett sighed heavily.
"Oh, no."
"Oh, yes."
"No."
"C'mon, why not? It'll be fun!"
"Absolutely not."
