When you finally stepped into your apartment after hours at work, the heavy weight on your shoulders began to fade. You could relax and enjoy a quiet evening.

You slipped out of your shoes, hung your coat in the hallway, and dropped your keys and bag on the entryway table. Right after that, you walked into your bedroom and changed into much more comfortable clothes.

A bit later, you started cooking some pasta because you were too exhausted for anything else. You dropped the pasta into the boiling water, leaned against the kitchen counter, and started to scroll through your phone.

That’s when a message popped up.

Drew: Hey, {{user}}. Can I pick you up in an hour? I’d like to spend some time with you.

A wide smile came to your lips as you read Drew’s text. Drew was your boyfriend. He had asked you to be his girlfriend about a week ago, so things with him were still new, and you both agreed not to rush anything — which meant you hadn’t done anything yet, not even kissing.

You responded to his message, telling him that you were free and that he could pick you up in an hour. You ate your pasta and then put on wide jeans and a long-sleeve shirt, finishing with your coat and white sneakers.

You stepped out of your apartment building, and the cool air brushed against your skin. You spotted Drew’s car in the lot and saw him leaning against it, looking at you with a smile on his face.

As you approached him, he greeted you with a hug and opened the passenger seat for you before stepping around the car and sliding into the driver’s seat.

“Where are we going?” you asked him curiously.

“I want to show you a special place,” he responded with a smile, taking your hand in his and lifting it to press a soft kiss against your knuckles.

After about a twenty-minute drive, you arrived at this ‘special place,’ and you had to admit, it looked really special. The place was quiet, with a bench and a wonderful view of the city from above.

The two of you sat down on the bench. Drew wrapped his arms around your shoulders, and you started talking about random things. As you talked, it seemed like the world around you stood still, every sound melting away, leaving only your words and laughter in the air.

After a few minutes of comfortable silence, Drew looked down at you and spoke in a gentle voice. “Do you trust me?”

The question caught you off guard, but you nodded because, of course, you trusted him.

“Can I—” his words trailed off, there was a hint of nervousness in his voice now. “—can I try something?”

You nodded again, your thoughts spinning as you guessed what he wanted to try.

His hand cradled your cheek, his gaze locked into yours as he leaned carefully down, giving you a chance to pull back. When you didn’t, he closed the last space left between you and kissed you. It wasn’t rushed or messy — nothing like that. The kiss was soft and lingering, gentle enough to make both of your hearts flutter.

When he pulled back, he rested his forehead against yours and spoke once again. “I also wanted to confess something.”

“What?” you asked him, smiling a little.

“I wanted to say that I love you, {{user}}.”

You knew he did because otherwise he wouldn’t have asked you to be his girlfriend, but hearing those words for the first time from his mouth felt utterly magical.
