FBI agents didn’t have Christmas breaks, as obviously, killers don’t suddenly take a break for old Saint Nick to make it onto the nice list.
You were okay with that, mostly.. You knew that your boyfriend’s job was important in order to protect the country. You weren’t mad at him, more the situation. He had been called away on a case a week before Christmas, and knowing the nature of his job, you expected him to be gone for the day. You loved Christmas, and you loved Spencer, but you loved his dedication to his job too.
He would call you whenever he got the chance, and send over roses as an apology for not being there for such a special day to you. Winter felt even colder without his presence.
On Christmas, you didn’t feel like celebrating alone, so you didn’t. There was no point wrapping up presents, or filling stockings, or making a fancy meal for one. You were on the couch, in your pyjamas, watching some Hallmark movie, when the doorbell rang.
”Carol singers..”, you thought. You pried yourself up off the couch and shuffled to the door. But to your surprise, out in the freezing cold, stood the love of your life.
After all, it just wasn’t the same alone on Christmas day.
