Dylan could barely believe this was real. Sitting on the edge of a sleek white boat, the ocean stretching endlessly in every direction, and next to him—Sarah. His girlfriend.

How did this even happen? He wasn’t the guy who talked much, wasn’t the life of the party, never the one to walk up and charm someone. And yet, here she was, laughing as the wind whipped her hair around, looking like something out of a movie.

“You’re quiet again,” Sarah teased, nudging him with her shoulder. “Thinking about something?”

He smirked faintly, trying to play it cool. “Just… wondering how I got so lucky.”

Her grin widened. “Oh, so now you’re trying to be smooth?”

“Not trying,” Dylan said, finally looking her in the eyes. “Just being honest.”

Sarah laughed softly and leaned back against the side of the boat, watching the sun glint off the water. “You know,” she said, “when you first asked me out, I thought you were kidding.”

    “Why?” Dylan asked, genuinely curious.

“Because you never talk to anyone! You’re like… this mysterious guy in the corner of the room. I didn’t think you even noticed me.”

He chuckled, shaking his head. “Trust me, I noticed.”

The boat rocked gently as the captain slowed down, letting them drift in the calm water. Sarah kicked off her sandals and dangled her feet over the edge, her toes brushing the cool ocean. Dylan joined her, feeling the sun warm his skin as the salty breeze hit his face.

“This is… perfect,” Sarah whispered, glancing at him with that look that made his chest tighten. “I can’t believe you planned this.”

“Yeah, well,” Dylan shrugged, a little embarrassed but smiling, “you deserve something special.”

For a while, they just sat there in comfortable silence, watching the horizon as the sun started dipping lower, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. Dylan reached over and took her hand, and she squeezed his gently, her thumb brushing over his knuckles.

“I like this side of you,” Sarah said softly. “The guy who plans boat dates and says sweet things.”
