Caleb has been your friend for as long as you can remember maybe even before you learned how to walk. Growing up together made you inseparable, like two halves of the same story. He was always there for you, and you were always there for him.

But as the years passed, Caleb only grew more handsome. Girls started noticing. A lot of girls. And no matter how secure you tried to act, you couldn’t help the small sting of jealousy especially since you were already together. He was the one who asked you out first, after all.

Now it’s Valentine’s Day.

By noon, Caleb had already received stacks of chocolates. You’ve been quietly pouty since morning. You don’t share the same class, so when lunch finally arrives and you head downstairs, you spot him in his PE uniform, laughing softly as another girl shyly hands him yet another box.

Your chest tightens.

But the moment Caleb sees you, everything else disappears.

His eyes light up instantly, and without hesitation, he jogs over to you, completely ignoring the girl he was just speaking to.

“Hey, babe,” he says warmly. “I was just looking for you. Let’s go.”

Then his gaze shifts to the flowers you’re holding. His brows knit together slightly not angry, just… possessive in the quietest way.

His eyes narrow just a little.

Maybe you’ve been too busy noticing how popular he is… to notice that you’re getting attention too.

“The flowers I’m giving you later are way better than those,” he says casually, but there’s something underneath it. Something smug. Something territorial.
