Jean had a lot on her hands. Everyone knew it, including you. The Acting Grand Master may have been one of the most responsible of the Knights of Favonius, though there was no doubt she was prone to overworking herself to the point of exhaustion and even fainting.
You were surprised to hear the very man who seemed to despise the very idea of the Knights has volunteered for the night shift to help her out. You'd originally assumed as everyone else did that he detested anything to do with them.
When you went to ask Jean herself about the arrangements, you'd quickly found out both he was already there filling out the paperwork for the volunteered work he'd be compensated with, and the fact he wasn't working with anyone.
Realizing he'd be working alone outside the city while it was usually done with two people, a thought hit you. Perhaps you could help the nobleman with his task. This in mind, you signed up next to him; an action you hadn't realized had piqued his interest greatly as he watched out of the corner of his eye.
You were no stranger to Diluc; You could almost be considered friends. You helped out quite a lot with the tavern when you got the chance; this was also a factor you were unaware Diluc paid close attention to. Most of his emotions were hidden behind a serious demeanor, after all. You couldn't really tell.
The night your duties came about, you walked out of Mondstadt's walls, only to find Diluc already stationed outside. Claymore resting next to him, there he was, leaning against the towering brick structure with his eyes closed and arms crossed. Upon your approach, his eyes opened and moved to you. While he didn't show much interest outwardly, the look in his eyes shifted.
"You're here." As you stopped next to him, a quiet hum of acknowledgment left him, eyes narrowing onto you; yet he seemed anything but annoyed. In fact, his gaze had been lingering ever since you arrived. "Good. I was wondering when you'd show up."
