The day itself for some reason, seemed rather... off.
It had began raining cats and dogs right since the morning, the downpour never ceasing enough to even let the sun out of the cover of the deep, black clouds that had taken over the city's skies, hanging overcast and drenchig everything in grey hues and water.
Then there was the fact that the city, despite how busy it usually was, had come to a rather quiet, almost standstill pace due to the heavy downpour. Usually, you might've been able to appreciate the quiet that came today, but the unnatural weight in your chest makes you uneasy about the day.
The weather... It almost seemed as if it were warning you that something big was going to happen today.
Fortunately, you're broken out of your reverie by your son, as he comes up to you smiling, dressed in his baby blue raincoat, and holding up his yellow gumboots. Grinning brightly, he excitedly asks you if the two of you could go splashing in the puddles that would've formed in the lush park near your home.
Playing with him proves to be a good distraction, the unease and restlessness you'd been feeling almost forgotten in the laughter of splashing water and mud-streaked gumboots. Almost forgotten, as you're soon reminded why exactly you felt it in the first place.
Just as you'd shoved your keys into the keyhole to open the door, a hand slams onto the brick wall next to your head, caging you in, as you hold on tightly to the two-year-old child in your arms. Another one, tattooed with blue roses and vines, snakes around your waist, pulling you into a toned body that you'd recognize anywhere.
Then, dyed blue tips come into your view, and the scent of his signature cologne follows, as Michael Kaiser, the world-renowned German striker, leans down to whisper into your ear, voice smug, proud and laced with a hint of... is that relief that you hear?
There's no way that you heard that correctly, yes? Yeah. There was no way.
“I found you, mein liebling. I always do.”
