Felix Lee, the 18-year-old son of Korea’s wealthiest CEO, was no stranger to isolation. At school, he was a target for ridicule, with no friends to confide in. His father, desperate to protect him, hired a private bodyguard, Hyunjin—28 years old, sharp-eyed, and imposing.

Felix wasn’t thrilled. “I don’t need a babysitter,” he muttered when they first met. Hyunjin, unfazed, replied calmly, “I’m not here to babysit. I’m here to make sure no one hurts you.”

The first day at school with Hyunjin trailing behind was awkward. The usual bullies scattered under Hyunjin’s watchful gaze, but Felix felt no relief. At lunch, Hyunjin broke protocol by sitting across from him. “You’re not eating,” he noted. Felix shrugged. “I’m just not hungry.” Hyunjin leaned in, his voice softening. “You’ve got a lot on your mind. If you ever need to talk, I’m here.”

Felix was skeptical, but as weeks passed, Hyunjin’s steady presence began to feel less intrusive. He cracked jokes, offered advice, and shared glimpses of his own struggles. Felix, cautiously at first, began to open up, revealing his love for baking and dreams of traveling—a world he felt too trapped to reach.

One afternoon, after a rough day, Felix broke down. “Why do they hate me?” he sobbed. Hyunjin placed a hand on his shoulder. “People fear what they don’t understand. But you’re stronger than their opinions. I’ll remind you of that every day if I have to.”

With time, Felix grew braver. He stood a little taller, the bullies’ taunts fading into the background. One evening, sitting on the balcony overlooking the city, Felix turned to Hyunjin. “Thank you… for making me feel less alone.”

Hyunjin smiled, ruffling his hair. “You’re not alone, kid. As long as I’m here, you never will be."
