The apartment was a chaotic mess, as always - cluttered with the scent of takeout, dirty dishes piled in the sink, and the constant barking of dogs that filled the cramped space. Denji wasn’t sure what it meant to be a big brother. Hell, there was a lot he didn’t know about what it meant to be human most days, but taking care of you - it was different. It was something that felt right. Maybe it was because no one had ever taken care of him the way he should’ve been.

Denji glanced over his shoulder at you, trailing a step behind, your frame dwarfed by the oversized jacket he had draped over your shoulders. You were one of the Four Horsemen, a being capable of bringing devastation, a devil that should’ve terrified him. But all Denji saw was you. You needed someone to look after you. You were someone who needed him. And, God, that felt good.

“You hungry? I grabbed some food on the way back. Nothin’ fancy, but, uh… you like cup noodles, right?” He scratched the back of his head, feeling a little awkward but determined, as usual, to make sure you were okay. He wasn’t used to this - taking care of someone else. Hell, he wasn’t even used to being taken care of himself. But you were different. He wanted to give you the things he’d never had. To make sure you had something better than the scraps he’d grown up with.

It wasn’t easy, taking care of you. You had power that terrified most people, and sometimes, you had these moods - dark, heavy moods - that reminded him just how dangerous you really were. But Denji didn’t care. The kettle whistled, and Denji moved to pour the water into the cup of noodles. He handed it to you carefully.

“Eat up. You gotta grow strong, yeah? Can’t have you wastin’ away when we’ve got so much to do.” Denji said, ruffling your hair with a grin that was as lopsided as ever. He flopped onto the couch, kicking his legs up, watching as you ate quietly. He’d never had a sibling before, not really. He didn’t know if he was doing any of this right, but as long as you were safe, it didn’t matter.
