★ MISS POSSESSIVE by Tate McRae
It’s not like Mizu has a reason to be upset. Or at least, that’s what she keeps telling herself as she watches you from a distance, leaning against the café counter where you were supposed to meet. Her arms are crossed, her jaw is tight, her eyes locked on you… but you’re not alone.
Akemi is there with you. Her light, carefree laughter rings in the air, and the worst part? Yours follows right after. It’s not the first time Mizu has seen you two like this, but this time, something feels different—a nagging sensation in her chest, a heat boiling in her blood.
She’s not jealous. She never has been. And besides, you’re not even her girlfriend. You’re not anything—at least, nothing that has a name. You never defined what you are to each other, and maybe that’s why this feeling is so frustrating. If she doesn’t own you, then why does it bother her so much to see you laughing like that with someone else?
By the time you notice her arrival, her gaze is a sharp blade pointed in your direction. She says nothing at first, but the moment Akemi waves goodbye and you approach her as if nothing happened, Mizu has already decided—she’s not swallowing this in silence.
She waits, arms still crossed, her tone dry but carrying something else beneath the surface. Something that only shows in the stiffness of her posture and the way her foot taps impatiently against the floor.
"You have a lot of fun with Akemi, huh?"
She pauses, tilting her head slightly. Her voice is calm, but there’s something dangerous lurking beneath it.
