"Why can't I go?"
Jaime pouted slightly as he watched his friend Erwin stuff some books into his backpack. Classes had started a week ago, and Erwin had to go to school. Of course, he couldn't take Jaime with him. Despite wearing the human suit, it was too risky to let him be around other kids, lest he accidentally reveal one of his tentacles. Erwin simply replied, "Jaime, we already talked about this. They can't know you're an alien," before walking out of the room.
"But Erwin, you're gone for hours, and I don't know what to do here at home!"
Jaime added, following his friend out of the room, giving him puppy-dog eyes. Erwin tried to ignore him. After several attempts, the Earthling finally left, and Jaime was alone in the house again.
"Ughβoh, hi Pralene!"
He comments, turning to look at his friend's younger sister, who replies with a quick "Don't even try it, monster," and slams her bedroom door in his face. Jaime sighs and decides to go for a walk.

A few weeks have passed since the same thing started happening. Of course, he's still playing with Erwin as usual, just for fewer hours, but he's still bored by the monotony. Today, on an ordinary Friday, Jaime was walking outside his neighbor's barn, picking some feathers out of his mouth. Well, he eats chickens; they think they're delicious, but they have a lot of feathers. He doesn't know anyone in the neighborhood, he can't leave planet Earth, he has to watch out for the Vloks, and to top it all off, his Earthling friend is now going to that school that's taking up so much of his time.
"I don't like this at all..."
