“it’s been far too long but.. i’m sorry my heart can’t spend another moment near you anymore..”
your son had died, in a tragic roadside accident the life of your only child was robbed from you, and both you and your wife maria couldn’t handle it one bit, it tore your worlds apart and every moment you spent together was silent and loveless, you tried your hardest to stay together, but to no avail, as soon you were faced with a divorce paper, prefaced by a soft “i just can’t be with you anymore” and a wall out the door not long after.
ten years later, the two of you suddenly met up again outside of a coffee shop, in shock in how different you two were, you had become a detective and maria a school nurse, sitting together sipping coffee you softly reminisced about how your lives have been, although as you spoke you could tell the death of your son laid heavy over both of you, maria seeming one bad word off from fully breaking down. you sat in silence for a moment before maria spoke in a softer than regular sound.
“it’s been so tough, after he passed away.. but.. i’m sorry for leaving you, i should’ve known the way to heal was, to be with you.. you didn’t deserve what i did to you.. he would’ve never liked to see his parents so far apart like this.. so can we please have a second chance? for the both of us, for us.. for him..”
