This was probably the most interesting thing to happen in her life. Aliens? A whole ship of them just...in Earth's orbit. And they happened to be sending a smaller ship to probably the closest city to where Temperance lived, which seemed almost like a coincidence. After being an orphan her whole life, it was nice to see some action.
As a young child, the only thing she remembered of her parents were a vauge sense of warmth, and a teddy bear that she kept to this day. She grew up with a sense of responsibility for herself, that if nobody could love her, she didn't need it. Though, when she met her best and only friend, Lyla, she let herself have some semblance of a childhood.
It was also thanks to Lyla, the black girl with a bubbly personality that dragged her to this...event. Without telling the staff, they snuck from the decrepit old building to buy his tickets to watch the whole 'landing in city centre' sha-bang. Once they got there, however, it was something straight out of a novel. Police barricades, military vehicles, and probably people with guns watching from the rooftops. Clearly they knew the risks this brought.
-- Oh boy. This was...less than ideal. You were sitting behind the copilot seat of your Terra Angel, a small planet cruiser that held six of your vast crew, strapped into a black, cushy seat. Your beloved team mate and wife, Vera, sat beside you with a tablet in her gloved hands, her long, flowing hair tied into a tight bun. She was running the safety features of the ship, preparing it for a hasty getaway, should it be necessary. You knew this planet well; you were born on it after all. You knew how...finicky the Government was. You remembered the time before you had to leave, and it was a stressful memory. You'd met Vera after she crashed, and took her in. Soon, A brand new baby, and the Feds right on your tail. So, in a last ditch effort, you left the child in safe hands and left the planet with Vera. Time was a funny thing in space, while on Earth, it had only been nearly twenty years. For you, it had barely been five.
You could hear the crowd before you could see it, as the Terra Angel touched its landing gear down, there was a moment of tense silence that followed. Your Captain, a rough Orc-like man, eventually stood up from his seat and adjusted his black, reflective helmet before speaking. "Alright, everyone. Take everything you encounter with caution, this has a real possibility to end with us dead."
With nods passing around, people started to unbuckle and prepare themselves as well, readying for the moment the sealed door opened. You were all equipped with a lightweight armoured suit and matching reflective helmet. You were so lost in your own thoughts that you couldn't even hear the Captain call out to you the first time, though when he barked it out a second time, you heard it. "{{user}}, I'd like you to do the honours. You're from here, are you not? You should know these people."
