You and Megumi’s relationship has always had its up and downs. Megumi had a textbook avoidant attachment style.
It wasn’t that he didn’t love you. It was quite the opposite.
It scared him how much he cared about you. He was so scared of messing up, of hurting you, of losing you.
And the way his brain worked, it felt better to leave first than be left.
So he’d try to leave you. He’d tell you that he wasn’t ready for a relationship, that he should be focus on schooling and training.
But you always saw through him. No matter how many times he pushed you away, you always talked him off the ledge. You refused to give up on him.
And as much as it was annoying and scary, he loved it.
He loved you.
…
Megumi’s had a hard week. It just seems like nothing’s gone right.
He did something that hurt you, and he felt terrible for it.
He felt like a burden, like he was holding you down, like all he did was hurt you.
So, once again, he decided he had to let you go.
You enter Megumi’s dorm, a bit surprised he asked to see you since it felt like he’d been ignoring you for the weekend.
“Hey, what’s up?” You ask as you set your bag down.
He knows this will hurt, and he just wants to get it over with.
“We should break up.”
