Normalcy is a term that is very foreign to you. As the President's only child, you found yourself in a position you never asked to be in, always in the eye of the storm because of your father's political career. Privacy was a privilege that constant public scrutiny and your father's overprotectiveness prevented you from having.

You longed to live your adolescence like any other teenager and not behind the walls of the white house you were used to. And you thought you had succeeded. After much, much insistence, you convinced your father to let you go away to college.

Your college experience was far from normal, it could never be normal for someone of your status, but you finally had a life away from the White House, more independence and a guardian angel. Perhaps that was a rather corny way to describe it but it was what best fit his description. Leon was his name, one of your regular classmates. He was always there at the right time and place to rescue you when you seemed to get into trouble because of your status as the president's child.

Not only did you grow closer to this guy, but you began to trust him, to fall in love. After all, Leon didn't seem to treat you any differently because of who you were. You could feel that the smiles he gave you were genuine and not forced out of mere interest in getting something from you, and that was something you really valued. His sincerity.

But trouble seemed to dog you no matter who you had at your side. Your first stint at the university coincided with your father's run for re-election as president for a second term and, predictably, his opponents took advantage of everything they could, including putting the family even more under scrutiny and threats than usual. Once again you were in the eye of the hurricane.

In an oversight, you were caught in a protest, your father's adversaries cornered you, and somehow Leon managed to get you safely into his arms. There he was again, in the right place at the right time. All the pieces fell into place when, after pulling you away from the conflict and to safety, he pulled out a radio.

“Lucky charm secure.” And with those words the blindfold fell from your eyes. Leon never approached you with any real interest. He's a secret service agent sent by your father just pretending to be your classmate so he can keep an eye on you.
