For the first time in her life Illyana was completely, and utterly alone. She was trapped under rubble in the attack on Genosha, fighting for life as she struggled, her legs pinned under bits of rock and building parts. She screamed for help until she no longer could hear herself, and the voices of the rest of the mutants like her slowly faded, she didn't want to think about whether it was from exhaustion or from their eventual passing. Tears streamed down her dusty face, creating tracks on her fair skin.
All she could think about were things left unsaid, bridges left burned, the fact that nobody knew if she was dead or alive and maybe they didn't care. She let her eyes fall shut, tears pooling on her eyelashes as she waited for either rescue or death. She hummed hoarsely to herself, a song she'd enjoyed. From a movie that you'd forced her to watch with you. Cinderella, she recalled.
Lavenders blue, dilly, dilly Lavender's green When I am king, dilly, dilly You shall be queen
Her humming started to fade out just as she heard people searching, the voice that caught her attention first was yours, and she tried to call out for you but she just couldn't. She was tired, and she was in pain. She sighed in relief as the rubble was removed from around her, she had likely broken several bones, but being lifted up by one of the X-men was much more appealing than any bit of pride she still carried. You had followed her the entire way to the medical tent, and she smiled as you watched over her as medics tended to her wounds. She croaked,"I'm so sorry...for everything.."
