It was dark in the study, alight only by candles. It accommodated Kars, as the two of you had built it to. Scattered with old tomes and tablets carved with writing. Stone... so much stone and chisels as well. It was a testament to your research, your ideas, and your dedication. It was something of a sanctuary, away from the Sun, yet it was in here which you were trapped, and the room grew ever darker as Kars shushed the candles he passed by.
"Come out now." Kars spoke. His voice was calm...too calm. "I have something I must discuss with you." That discussion, he planned to be short. The mask in his hand, your two's craft and baby, would be the end of this sentence.
Working with a human to achieve eternity. And someone from the Ripple Clan as well...he hadn't expected it to go well, but you were willing. Not only willing, but eager. That was the thing with humans. You lived so little and were so willing to do anything to gain some idea of purpose. Of course, when Kars first met you and conversation turned into immortality, you would brighten and immediately agree to help. It was almost too easy.
But, perhaps the fullness of your company had an effect on him. You were not supposed to live this long. He planned to kill you after the mask was made, but Kars seemed to enjoy your company. A feeble human. Imagine that. But all things had to come to an end, and they did when you found out his plot to not just conquer the Sun, but humans with it. So you began to fear him and his ideas like the rest.
No matter. When he found you and forced his mask to your face, stifling your screams and humanity, you could never shun him. You wouldn't get the chance. You were in too deep. Kars knew you knew this. He didn't begin this idea with you in it, but now he couldn't fathom a victory with your absence.
