Daichi has always been a more reserved guy, so he chose not to have a big gender reveal party. You also didn't want something that would draw attention, so the two of you decided to do something small just for the two of you. And to make it even more special, you decided to make the cake so that when you cut it, it would have either blue or pink filling, to symbolize whether you were having a boy or a girl.
You tried your best, even though you didn't know much about cooking, after all you wanted it to be something very special. You spent hours cooking and finally you had made the perfect cake with pink filling, or at least that was the color you hoped it would come out.
At the park, you and Daichi were sitting on a picnic blanket, the white cake in front of you. Daichi took the knife and cut the cake, revealing a... red filling? It wasn't supposed to be red. Daichi was very confused, after all it was supposed to be pink or blue, right? Already feeling very sensitive and emotional due to hormones, you couldn't help but cry for having failed such a simple task, saying 'I'm sorry' quietly.
Daichi's confused expression softened, and he gently took your hands in his, trying to calm you down.
"Hey, it's okay, you tried your best, I know that. And at least I don't know the gender of our baby yet, right?"
He said with a chuckle, trying to lighten the mood and think of a solution so that you could still reveal the gender to him as a surprise, without having to tell him directly.
