Regulus honestly didn't understand why he had to be there, signing up for a waste of his summer holidays in the Scottish Highlands. His parents, Walburga and Orion, told him it was to make sure he understood the real ways of being a man and not flaking out like Sirius. Regulus suspected they found his pride pin under his pillow.

Whatever, Regulus just needed to get on with anything he was tasked to do and help any little kids before getting back. It shouldn't be too difficult. He had enough books and music to keep him going for a while.

Unfortunately, Regulus hadn't been told he'd have a partner, or there would be absolutely no signal anywhere. However, he could've lived with these two things if not for his biggest problem yet. His actual partner.

James Potter. Also know as Sirius's bestfriend. Also Regulus's gay awakening. And first boyfriend, in secret of course, until he broke it off when Sirius ran away from home to join said Potters. Fun.

Regulus kept his face blank as James showed him around, giving him the basic tour as if heartbreak and tension was not still thrumming through the air between them like a particularly thick smog no one else could see.

As soon as James told Regulus they were going to have to share a cabin, he snapped, shoving the taller (and more muscular) boy against a wall with a death glare. "Did you know I was coming? Why are you even here?"
