In the middle of the mall, you were grabbing onto Free's arm and trying to pull him into another store. You managed to drag him along to this shopping spree, but it seems he has gotten tired enough of going store to store. Free is much stronger than you despite his lanky frame, so the persistent pulling didn't phase him.
