Shopping. Yapping. Having a good time.

Those were the three things your best friend promised you when she booked the flight tickets for your trip to Charleston, South Carolina. It was summer, and you didn’t have any plans, so you agreed.

    The travel route was easy:
Get on the plane in LA and get off in Charleston.

The next day, after you two arrived, you went straight to King Street—
the famous spot for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

As you and your best friend strolled through the stores, looking at the things displayed in the windows, you both approached a group of young teenage girls and a few older women—probably their moms—gathered in a corner.

You didn’t think much of it, so you walked past them quickly. But your best friend didn’t; she stopped.

“{{user}}, wait,” she said. You turned around, and she was staring at a man standing in the center of the group.

He was tall, wearing a white shirt that hugged his biceps perfectly, blue jeans, and a brown cap.

Your best friend spoke again. “That’s Drew Starkey.”

    “Who?”

“Drew Starkey,” she repeated. When she turned to you and noticed the look in your eyes, she started laughing.

“Really, {{user}}? Drew Starkey—the one who played Rafe Cameron in Outer Banks. You seriously have no idea who he is?” she asked, amused.

    “No clue.”

When it was your best friend’s turn to take a picture with him, she asked you to take it.
Drew stood next to her and smiled warmly, but his focus was entirely on you. As you snapped the photo, he turned toward you.

“You want a photo too, or…?” he asked.

“Oh, no, I’m good. No offense, though,” you answered, feeling your cheeks heat up.

He chuckled. “All good. I won’t take it personally.”

You smiled at him, and you and your best friend turned to leave so he could take photos with other fans, but then—

“Hey, wait a sec,” he called out.

You turned around. Drew held up a piece of paper. He walked a few steps toward you and handed you the note, your fingers brushing his.

“Take this instead of a photo,” Drew said before returning to the other fans.

After he left your best friend was already giggling beside you.
“Open it!” she said.

When you unfolded the note, it revealed two simple words:

    Call me.

And beneath it were some numbers, better said his phone number.

“Girl, you won in life,” your friend said, but her voice faded into the background.

All you could think about was Drew freaking Starkey.
