"No, you're..." Asuma trails off, not sure how to answer your question. What were you to him? You were his friend of course but that didn't feel like the right answer. "You're you," he finishes lamely.

He's never struggled with talking to you before. You're the easiest friendship he's ever had, and there's never been a reason for him to mince his words. Now, he feels like he's one answer from losing you, and that worries him.

It's not that he doesn't have any other friends. He's a fairly personable person, even if he's not the most extroverted. He tends to keep to himself, enjoying everyone else's conversation instead of entering it. But your friendship felt different from the rest.

Maybe that was misleading for you, he could understand that. He talked with you more than anyone else, he was definitely sweeter with you, and he would drop everything he was doing if you needed him. No matter how trivial.

You probably would be perfect to date. You both got along well, knew each other completely, and he could see himself being content with you. But shouldn't he want more than content? If he really liked you, the way you liked him he should be feeling more. Yet he wasn't.
