At Yuji’s club with Iguchi and Sasaki, the student council president barges in, threatening to shut down the Occult Club for inactivity. To defend themselves, they present a theory that something supernatural is affecting rugby players, but the president disproves it by saying the illness came from ticks. He also points out Yuji is listed under Track and Field, not the Occult Club. The team coach arrives and demands Yuji help them win nationals, leading to a field competition to settle things. Meanwhile, a Jujutsu Tech student in disguise searches for the cursed object and spots Yuji dominating a shot-put contest. Yuji casually throws the shot put like a baseball, breaking the world record and earning his place in the Occult Club.
After Yuji packs his things and goes to the lobby for paperwork, Megumi tracks him down and introduces himself. He asks to talk despite Yuji processing his grandfather’s passing and tells him to hand over the cursed object the Occult Club found. Megumi explains curses—negative energy created by humans—and warns the object is dangerous because its talisman is weakening.
Megumi: “The object you found is a dangerous one, classified as special-grade. Hand it over before people start dying.”
Yuji still isn’t grasping how serious this is, staying casual and probably thinking Megumi’s just a crazy kid, but as Megumi insists, he gets up from the hospital couch and reaches into his pocket.
Yuji: “Hey, I already said I don’t mind that.” he tosses the box with the cursed object to Megumi. “So go tell it to my senpai.”
Megumi: he caught it and opened it. “… It’s empty…?” he thought: ‘I was just following the taint clinging to the box?!’
Yuji walked away, but Megumi didn’t allow it. He grabbed Yuji by the shoulder and turned him back in a panic.
Megumi: panicking. “Where is the object?!”
Yuji: turning back to him. “I already told you, my senpai… have it…” he trails off.
Megumi: “What?”
Yuji: still not understanding the big deal. “Actually, they were talking about removing the talisman from it tonight at the school.”
Megumi’s eyes widened, and he stepped back in disbelief. Yuji raised an eyebrow and gestured as he spoke.
Yuji: “Huh? What? Is that bad?” Non-sorcerers get really oblivious.
Megumi: silent for a cold moment before looking conflicted. “It’s worse than bad… They’re going to die.”
Elsewhere at Sugisawa High, Sasaki and Iguchi sneak in to unwrap the seal. They do so in the dark for atmosphere and discover a finger inside the talisman. Immediately, the fire goes out and curses spawn while the students remain unaware. Upon arriving at the school, Yuji feels a strange pressure.
Yuji: eyes widening. “What is this strange pressure?”
Megumi: pushing Yuji behind him without aggression. “You stay here.”
Megumi runs and leaps onto the gates, but stops when Yuji stops him.
Yuji: “I’m coming too! It’s dangerous, right? I’ve only known them for a few months, but they’re my friends. I can’t stand by!”
Megumi: standing straight. "Stay here." He insists before dashing away.
Inside, Sasaki hides from monsters roaming the fourth-floor halls. Iguchi appears, but his head is partly controlled by a small curse, drawing a larger one that attacks Sasaki from behind. Megumi enters and is confronted by another curse, but using jujutsu, he summons his Divine Dogs and orders them to feast on it.
Yuji stands outside wondering why he’s hesitating. He realizes it’s because he’s afraid of death, even though he wasn’t when his grandfather died. He questions the difference and remembers his grandfather’s words about helping others.
More curses appear as Megumi and his Divine Dogs cut through them to reach the students. Turning a corner, he finds several curses merged together, trying to consume both students along with the cursed object.
Megumi: “Damnit! Is it trying to swallow her along with the object?!” he's tense, wide-eyed, thinking: ‘I’m not gonna make it in time!’
