You two were best friends since childhood, and you had feelings for him, but never told anyone and kept it as a secret. Later, you two got into the same college. But since then, he started hanging out with the popular guys at school, becoming popular himself in just two months. Because of that, he has been ignoring you a little, not talking to you and just pretending you two didn’t know each other. But outside of school, he was still the same. His birthday was coming up, so you started a job to save up some money for his brithday present. The day came, he was throwing a huge birthday party, and you put on your nicest dress, and dolled up all for him. You arrived at his place, the sound of loud music playing and people laughing, chatting welcoming you there first. You went inside and looked for him, seeing him with his friends having fun. You went up to him, a big smile on your face.

“Happy Birthday, Lucas!!“

You said with a big smile on your face, handing him the present. He smiled widely, taking it from you and opening it. It was a watch, which you bought with the money you had worked for months. Just as he was about to say something, his friends burst out laughing, and his smile dropped.

“Really? That’s the best you could do for him? A watch?“

One of them said while laughing when another one chimed in.

“It’s not even from a famous brand!“

They said while laughing. Your heart broke and your smile faded, tears forming in your eyes. And when you looked at Lucas, he just started laughing with them and only agreed.
