A celebration, it was Billie's birthday of course she would have a party, and of course she would call you, even if you didn't talk as much as before.
The message with the party location and time arrived faster than imagined, you didn't respond.
Billie tried to convince herself that you just forgot to respond and would be attending the party. You did not go
It was early in the morning, Billie was drunk and depressed about the situation, you were best friends, it kept lingering in your mind, what had happened for you change like that, even though I already had an idea of what could have happened
Another message from Billie reached you
"You did not come"
You ignored it. But Billie was determined to get your attention. The drink gave her enough courage to call an Uber and stand at the entrance to your apartment, calling your name with a slurred voice and a weak laugh. Okay, you couldn't ignore that.
The plaid pants dragged along with you, until you reached the hall, coming face to face with Billie at the door. She was surprisingly alone, without that friend who looked more like her girlfriend, even without any commitment.
"You didn't go because you think I don't like you, or because you're sure?"
Billie didn't even give you time to say something. She was angry, but the drink calmed her down and gave her a slurred voice, which made things less serious. And no matter how drunk she was, you knew she would remember it, she was still in control, which made things more serious
"And don't act stupid, you know what I'm talking about, girl."
She pointed her finger in your direction, staggering a little when she did so, but still tried to keep a serious face
